Background

April Fogleman teaches courses related to Nutrition, specifically Public Health Nutrition, Introduction to Human Nutrition, Lactation, Milk, and Nutrition, Maternal and Infant Nutrition, and a section of the CALS honors course. She teaches approximately 500 students each year, including undergraduate and graduate students.

Her primary passion is teaching and mentoring students and completing research through her teaching and mentoring. Her research interests are related to improving maternal and infant health care by providing evidence based research to inform health care protocols and policies.

April earned her BS, MS, and PhD from NC State University. She earned her RD from the University of Northern Colorado and her IBCLC from the UNC’s School of Public Health. She is involved in improving support for appropriate infant feeding as past-chair of the North Carolina Breastfeeding Coalition and previous board member of the Human Milk Banking Association of North America, both non-profit organizations.
